@libraalbert91 It's an autoharp. It's a folk instrument. Look up the vids for the Carter Family& you'll see Maybelle Carter playing it the way John does. And you'll see it in the beginning of the Third Eye Blind's official music video for "How's it gonna be", though it's played "table top" so to speak.
