  • what tool do you use to take off the bottome timing chain gear?

  • Usally i use a large chisle and tap it off from behind..you may also hit it between the teeth and make a split in the gear..it will come right off..always install new gears...good luck.rc

  • I am going to replace the cam in my 350 sb when you insert the cam, can by chance it not line up with the push rods and all that stuff, or can it only go in one way?

  • It will only go in onw way...check my ebay store for full videos..ebay search "chevy camshaft dvd"..then visit my store to see all my videos..Thanks..RC

  • I have a 92 silverado with a 4.3 v6, im thinking of buying a rebuid kit and try to rebuild it my self, i've never done it before, i have only instaled motors that are already rebuild but i think it will be a nice project to learn

  • @moneymaka775 they do make a puller to...that way you dont do any possible damage...Gota remember when bulding a motor go cheap way dont get what you want..spend some money

  • @ratrodscot yes. but most 305 heads wont take anything bigger than a .420 lift cam and keep enough clearance to not crush the valve stem seals

  • @paulsjunkcars they line up on the exhaust stroke of the #1 cylinder. Its companion cyllinder, #6, will be on the compression stroke

  • @Denkha94 no it does not because there is a dowel locating pin for the cam gear that only lines up one way. But it might help if when trying to line up timing marks on the cam gear such as +4 advance or -8 depending where you want it at. Take into account most aftermarket cams already have 4 degrees advance ground into it. Check the cam card or specs before hand.

  • @ronieboy44 Hi their, I have a chevy 283 Motor, does the engine has to be on TDC on Piston #1 in order to take off the timing gear and reposition it. Would that be correct?

  • does the dots line up on the compression stroke or exhaust?

  • 6 people were Ford drivers! LOL i gotta brag that was kinda good!
