Slithering danger: KWS rangers kill python 16/10/09

Officials of the Kenya Wildlife Service have killed a 15-feet long python that is said to have been terrorising residentsof Kongela village in West Pokot. A villager alerted the rangers based at the Kapenguria KWS office after they spotted the snake, which had swallowed a goat the day before. Residents claim that the reptile had killed over 200 goats and sheep in the past 6 months alone and were fearing for their own lives. They now want KWS to deploy more rangers in the area prone to such dangerous snakes to help reduce human- wildlife conflicts.

My heart goes out to all the snakes that have died do to the ignorance of those that are soooo scarred of what they do not know. If they were only educated just a bit then they might not be so scarred and start fighting for the rights of the living, breathing, striving to stay alive in our over-populated world, defense-less snakes...
