if I remember correctly most roms come with some kind of a fail safe, so you can Hardreset the phone.

Yes of course, Windows Mobile can receive, download, and save any type of file attachment. Whether you can open them depends on the applications installed. Most devices do come with Office document support, as well as photos, videos, PDFs, etc.
