On Wednesday 18th of November, a Medevac en route from Samoa to Melbourne made 3 landing attempts on Norfolk Island before ditching into the ocean off Headstone on Norfolk Island. Norfolk Islander volunteer firefighter Scott Greenwood spotted the crash location from the clifftop and informed the rescue party who were headed in the other direction due to the last known heading of the aircraft. Darren Bates and other rescuers picked up the six survivors and brought them to safety in the middle of night. This video contains interviews with Scott, Darren and others involved in the rescue.
Good job by the locals, if not Pel-Air.
