I wrote this in 2004. The title came to me one day because I was wanting to write a rag about the Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival or Chip Lusby's house known as "Skunk Hollow" where some of us stay during that festival. All the obvious titles were taken. Eventually I hit on that title and set out to write something whimsical to fit.

This a programmed MIDI file of the tune, played on the PianoDisc-equipped Mason & Hamlin at Skunk Hollow.

  • I think that you should make a vidio where you show how your piano works

  • @acer19994 I'm pretty sure there are videos showing how the PianoDisc system works (basically it's a row of electrically activated solenoids; nearly any piano can have the system installed). This piano is not mine. I have had people ask for a video showing how my piano works (a foot-pumped pneumatic player piano that plays paper rolls), and I don't think there are any videos that show a pneumatic system, but I'm probably not the best person to make such a video as I don't know the details.

  • How do that piano play alone =O?

  • @UsKciTo It's an electrical system called PianoDisc.

  • Kewl, thanks for sharing this. It suits the parlor there at Skunk Hollow. What a joy to be there and hear this fantastic piano and actually play on it as well. I'm glad I arrived early to fiddle around with it! Your composition IS very whimsical...a whole lotta fun!

  • It sounds great in the parlor at Skunk Hollow; thanks, Ron.

  • @acer19994

It used MIDI. He'd have to explain how that works first, it's kinda complicated. Musical instrument digital interface.

  • Nice! Although I would prefer not to have a Skunk in the Parlor :D
