How can you figure out which ear is the trouble? It started off turning my head to the left and now when I lean my head back (looking up) then straight again. Two Dr.s told me BPPV --but which ear?

These procedures are only helpful if one does in fact have BPPV. The method used depends on where the BPPV is located, most often in the posterior canal. This is not for Meneiere's patients as their attacks are not related to abrupt position changes, but rather excessive inner ear fluid in the vestibular organ.

Yes, this is true. This maneuver is only helpful for 'ear rock' BPPV.

Glad to hear that. Actually it's not much different from the other maneuvers, but seems to be designed for detecting early signs of BPPV. During an attack, you will still need someone to assist you with this maneuver, tho.

Well I be damned, this worked. I recently caught a head cold, then subsequent fluid in my right ear/ear ache. Later I was getting so dizzy moving my head different directions, even while driving (accelerating) was making my dizzy...not safe at all. So I ran across this video, and I'm here to tell you....INSTANT relief. It's only been one day but I couldnt be more happy I feel better today...awesome!

I used to have it in both ears. Now, only the right ear. The way I can tell is that if I lay on my left side in bed -- no dizziness. If I lay on my right side in bed -- dizziness. I used to get dizzy if I lay on either side. Both ears were fixed by a similar method almost 20 years ago. But, the right side came back. I must be prone to the condition. I was diagnosed with this condition many years ago by Dr. Gale at Washington University, St. Louis (great guy).

To save loads of time, it would have been most helpful if you had noted (after the title) that this is part of the longer 3:53 American Academy of Neurology video. The American Academy of Neurology is one of the most reliable sources on this topic. I encourage all contributors to cite their sources. In the long run, citation of sources will make YouTube more useful. Imagine being able to go to the most reliably sourced videos first, and skipping over those without citations to save time!

Just did it on myself using an hydrolic treatment couch and a cushioned chair to put my head on at the right hight. Thanks dude! Vertigo is instantly a lot better but has not totally gone. Maybe I need a few more sessions - but I can't afford my fees!

I knew I had bppv, but my family didn't believe me, they think its an excuse not to go to work, meanwhile I feel like dying.

I had this done at a ENT office and it worked but shows up again & again. Now I can do the maneuver at home. Just make sure someone is with you when you turn on the affected ear.

This actually works for my vertigo. Just wish the effect lasted longer.
