@ianr2004 dont worry mate doesnt really hurt. Just looks bad for a few days! you'll prob have to take a week of work. I'm glad to say all my veins have gone now, although I still have some brown stains on my legs which can last for a year. better than the veins though!

@MrRyan200 hi there, im having this treatment next month myself too. Im a 31 year old man, but have suffered with these veins for many years as i stand alot with work. Also, sometimes mine bleed after a bath, quite cary when you look down and see blood shooting across the room!! lol. Anyways, looking forward to getting it done, just not so sure about the anasthetic, never been under it before, so dont know what to expect really :/ bit daunting!

is this available in the Philippines? how much does it normally cost? and is this 100% sure that it won't come back? :>

@therapeutics23 Sorry to not get back with you sooner. So far they have not returned. Plus I do not wear any compression stockings. It's amazing, its almost like I never had the veins to begin with. But on another note, I am seeing some small spider veins aphear around my ankle, other then that, everything seems to be well!

@aland11223 sorry i meant varicose veins

@aland11223 your post was made 3 months ago, so i'd like to know if there are any signs of the spider veins returning? also, are you using anything to prevent the reoccurence of the veins...perhaps compression stockings? i'm interested in having this done soon so i'd like to know...thank you :)

@vdef3 how did it go after??

I had this done 2 days ago - under general anasthetic on both legs. There is not really any pain BUT lots of bruising (which looks worse than it is). I had the older style treatment a few years ago where they cut deep into the groin and it was much much more painful & left a large scar.
I cant really see the results yet as I have large bandages on, but feel free to ask any questions if you wish.
By the way I am a 28 year old man (not very common in men my age!)

@vlad164 are you sure that isnt the older type of procedure where they make a large incision in the groin? I had that done and it hurt like hell for weeks. Also left a large scar.

How amazing that the Dr. invented this. How much does it cost?
I am having this done next week but my doctor is having me put under general anestesia and i have to miss the following 2 days of work... is this normal? This contradicts what was said in the video. also, how much scarring can i expect? I saw one online post that complained of brown spots and scarring months after surgery

Hello,
Yes, some physicians prefere general anestesia. this is normal. Normal scarring should be limited to the entry site, which is just a tiny skin nick and needle entry. You can expect that scar to be minimal or even disapear completely over time. I have never heard "Brown Spots" being associated with this procedure. This might be a reference to an adjunct treatment called scelrotherapy where discolorations can be possible. In any case, you should check those questions with your doctor too

...on these varicose veins. Depending on how well the vein wall of your varicose veins "bounce back" after the pressure has been released you will see your varicosities vanish completely or hardly at all, this is normal and differs from patient to patient. Depending on how big those remaining varicose veins are they can be followed up with either injection sclerotherapy for smaller vessels or ambulatory phlebectomy for the bigger ones. Ask your doctor on how he or she wants to proceed.

Your comment about the feeling of pulling piano wire in your leg is normal, actually a good sign of a successfull treatment, what you are feeling is your great saphenous vein knotting up and closing off completely, which is the aim of the procedure. you posted this 5 days ago, so by now the pulling sensation should have subsided. as for your remaining varicose veins, that is normal as well, the EVLT procedure treats the underlying cause of the varicose veins and diminishes the pressure....
