Even if you haven't biked, walked or carred it through the 2nd Street Tunnel in downtown Los Angeles, chances are if you watch TV or movies you've seen it, as it and its white-tile lining have been featured in countless commercials, programs and motion pictures.
Just a block south is the 2nd Street Tunnel's ugly stepsister, the 3rd Street Tunnel, which certainly doesn't share the same show biz resume.
Dank, dim, narrow, unventilated it's about as uninviting to anyone outside of a four-wheeled vehicle, but between the two it was the perfect choice for last night's monthly RIDE-Arc group bike ride, which featured after-hours, on-premises visits to the two oldest collections of dead people in Los Angeles: East LA's Evergreen Cemetery, and Mid-City's Angelus-Rosedale.
