  • I had a frustratingly impermanent, enlightenment experience. I watch videos of this type, and find that they merely describe the before and after, but skirt around the HOW to get from before to after. I'm sufficiently fed up with the whole thing that I'm inclined to give up.

  • The fact that you had a frustrating enlightenment experience implies that it is your ego seeking enlightenment. It is the ego that wants to hold onto peak experiences or repeat them. An alternative approach would be to be grateful for the experience, let it go and then simply be present with what is here. If you identify with the experience, even a peak experience, you will be caught in the mind and ego. The real issue is not the experience, but the question, who is experiencing?

  • Thanks Leo, I think I understand your point, namely that the memory of my experience is being corrupted and used to reinforce the habit itself. I still have difficulty with things like your last sentance, once we get into internal divisions named "ego" or "I" or "self", I find myself doing the same thing again, trying to understand them. There must be a simpler way, as I had no spiritual understanding whatsoever when it happened, it seems the more I know the less I know!

    Geoff

  • Dear Geoff, One who knows dwells in a state of not knowing. Just focus your consciousness on what is present, and bring awareness to everything that pulls you out of Presence. Being present is always instant. You cannot be present a moment from now. Arising in Mastery of your mind and ego is a process that occurs over time. It is a process of integration of the awakened state. Leonard

  • too many words, nothing practical

  • Such truth. It makes me sad that i only heard about enlightenment through my drum teacher. My whole life, my family, the school i went to, the media. Made me focus on everything that isnt me. It seems so obvious. I've still got a long way to go but thank you Leonard for showing me what a mirror never could.

  • This is no how to. Just be aware of the chatter. Watch it like a detached witness.

There is nothing to get and no where to go

  • I'm a multi-tasker, can't I just be partially present?

  • the thinking mind could have a special role to play - conscious co-creation of the expanding moment. if the moment becomes out of sync, perhaps a combination of going with the intuitive pull and using the thinking mind to plan details etc can allow the moment to expand and evolve synchronistically...

  • @JackHighlander No, the name implies what's involved but I have no experience of such a thing. Would you recommend it? I still nurture the hope it may return, but I'm not holding my breath, life goes on.

  • @Motown025 have you done an enlightenment intensive yet?

  • Hmmm, I'm finding this helpful thank you, I can't quite describe it but I'm starting to intuit the difference between my current behaviour and what you are nudging me toward. I recall at the time that things were strangely "metaphysical" (for want of a better word), a huge perspective that was often funny and at times frightening. Lot's of audacious conincidences and such. Is that common to these experiences people have?
