  • yup, Florida is pronounced

    "Flor-duh". forget the "i"

If you want to sound like you're from Florida then thats how you say it.

I've lived there my entire life, so I know.

  • Flor·i·da

    geographical name \ˈflȯr-ə-də, ˈflär-\

    Definition of FLORIDA

state SE United States ∗ Tallahassee area 58,664 square miles (151,940 square kilometers), pop 15,982,378

  • Good explanation Rachel!

  • While that may be the right way to say Hawai'i in English, it is still a respectful and culturally sensitive thing to do to know the how to say a place name in it's original language. Saying it correctly is not "authentic" but politically correct. Like how reporters usually say Jorge as "hore hey", and not "Jorge". Firstly, the (') before the second i in Hawai'i is called an 'okina which indicates a glottal stop, or pause, before the other i is said. Secondly the w in Hawaiian makes a v sound.

  • Flore... Florida... Florida... Florida.

  • wow you're really good looking :)

... btw are you from the west coast??? because our accents are alot different in the North East.. specifically New York.

  • thank you so much for posting it here :) it helps me lots! :]

  • Here is a video on the difference between these two words:
