@BereanStudent It's not fair to blame the United States for the disappearance of precious metals in coins. International banking gave all governments no choice. A fiat paper world system can't exist with even one country distributing Money-in-itself as the method of paying debts. Who would buy imports with gold & silver and accept paper & base-metal slugs for exports? The real wonder was that silver coins didn't disappear overnight when people knew that silver coinage was over.

I was alway a bit leary of the weight comparason so as i bought over 4000 mercs this summer and hundreds of qtr, and some halves and a few 100 morgans, so i weighed many and i always thought from looking that no way 5 dimes weighed the same as a half so we weighed many and found that in fact when they werren,t the same five dimes came out a fraction heavier then the half.
