The General Strike in Oakland had many marches throughout the day including this march against Capitalism, which to many means a march against the private ownership of property. Unfortunately some members of our community (and possibly undercover police) felt that it was acceptable to assault our fellow comrades because they felt damage to property was much more of an important issue than solidarity and/or non-violence.

Here is a great article about this march: http://www.bayofrage.com/from-the-bay/the-anti-capitalist-march-and-the-black...

  • "No violence nigga" **Swings at people with a big stick**

  • @deb83225 Exactly. It can't get any more ironic than that...

  • Animals breaking stuff should have been shot as an example to the rest of the hippy anarchists.

  • @tc556guy Most of the Anarchists I know hate hippies. Obviously are are completely unaware of what you are talking about so I would advise you to shut the fuck up.

  • @Aiden057 You have every right to your opinion and to respect/cherish the property of the 1%. I have to tell you though that these are in fact anarchists (or other radicals) and that they are NOT cops. The people that took part in the Black Bloc in Oakland were a politically astute and well-disciplined group. It's fine to disagree with their tactics but to say they are cops and/or not "real" anarchists is a joke. Face the facts people. Anarchists are the backbone of this movement.

  • @HumanaeAdAstra Watch the video again dude.

  • "solidarity" doesn't mean not preventing vandalism. "non-violence" doesn't mean not doing something to prevent vandalism. just look them up - the words are simple. Solidarity is an implicit or explicit agreement to support each others groups. nonviolence is a strategy for change through political action that confronts violence with nonviolence.

  • If you can't respect my property by not breaking it, you deserve to die, "crud". What part of that is so hard to understand?

  • well, if there are people like these anarchists running around, I can see why a stores owners would want to protect their investment with armed security.

  • @tc556guy Whole foods (on Harrison St) security actually runs amok throughout the store with 9mm handguns and paramilitary uniforms - it's quite the hippie fascist shopping environment. Almost as fascist as murdering people for breaking glass.

  • @TomVeeTV said" Exactly. It can't get any more ironic than that"- we're not at the point where average people are going to understand vandalism, at this point it only serves to alienate a large portion of people (as it did). What needs to or should have happened is/was to drop the vague reformist language and use our energy to explain the nature of the capitalist system to the tens of thousands of people who showed up that day and who will show up in the future.

  • @TomVeeTV Never underestimate the possibility of Eugene being a, as GiIl Scott Heron described, four year revolutionary with nothing to inform his analysis but some crust records and a copy of Evasion. As for the rest of them I refer you to CrimeThinc's Traveler Kid Purge communique. Met you at Fruitvale Vee.

  • Honestly, since when has non violent protest ever accomplished anything? The last begginnings of revolution died down in the 60's. There has to be a point where more action is needed. Look at whats happening. The occupy movements have been going on for months and the camps are being cleared out and it will begin to die down. Thats how far peaceful protest gets you. If someone would like to point me to an example where a radical shift in government was achieved without violence I would be happy.

  • I dare Black Bloc or whatever they are calling themselves to come to a Tea Party Rally. Fair warning...a lot of the partyers are packing!

  • Now i know i wont go on a March when i protest because that is constant movement and damage. Rent a place out people, Find a public Field. Do not move and talk and be peaceful
