This picture is a crock....most people went to see it for the ass-whippins....the message of non violence is silly...the free school advocates non violence, while relying on BJ to exact revenge in their name...this is the same hippocracy they leveled against "the establishment"

This is a good movie with a positive message. It's hard to understand people's hate towards it. Not everthing will be relavent to the issues we have today. This movie just gives a positive message that could be relevant but honestly isnt competely.

I stood in line for hours to see this. I'm ashamed of that. This movie SUCKED! I want my money back.
@kenfuscious This film isn't really about marshall arts. It's a fantasy about getting even for abuses in society when "the system" is ineffective or corrupt, and the limits of non-violent philosophy in the real world. Lots of followers of Ghandi and King were abused, injured, jailed, or killed before there was social change in their societies, but without sacrafice, perhaps nothing would have changed. The underlying question is whether violence is ever an ethical way to effect social change.

When I was 11, I thought this movie was the greatest celluloid effort EVER!!! At 51, I see it for what it was: a political statement with a utopian message for those under 21 in 1971 and it had a decent theme song. It was perfect for the idealistic young people in the waning years of the Vietnam war. But sadly laughable to those who've lived ANY amount of life since then.
Sorry...just my opinion.
