Reason.tv reports from the "One Nation" rally for "Jobs, Justice, and Education" on Saturday, October 2 in Washington, D.C. The event was organized by the NAACP, the AFL-CIO, the American Federation of Teachers, the Service Employees International Union, and other progressive outfits.

Reason's Nick Gillespie talked with Rep. Charles Rangel, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the AFT's Randi Weingarten, MSNBC's Ed Schultz, comedian-activist Dick Gregory, Electronic Frontier Foundation co-founder Mitch Kapor, and other luminaries (including somebody who looked a helluva lot like Neil Young).

  • @rpierre777 Over 300 organizations sent info to their members about this rally for months. The SEIU and other Unions stated that attendance was mandatory, but their members were ready for a fight.. Search the Organizers of the Rally for yourself.

I will not do your work, you are not entitled to my labor.

Please provide what you believe to be a fair wage for a non skilled individual who is currently making the minimum wage. How much money are they worth, who decides and is it constitutional?

  • @nubcakehero The numbers at this rally restores my hope that Americans are Americans First, then maybe they become someone's bitch. But there is no other place on this planet, nor will there ever be, where you can see the Communists, the Socialists and the Marxists all selling their tripe in the same keyosk. And I loved the posters that read Fire the Lawyers...Yeah, lets start with the Top guy and work our way down.

  • Good presentation.

  • Bond said it clearly what they stand for: "progressive legislation".

    - Progressive = socialism = Marxism = fascism

    - "Schools that work" means schools that are controlled by the government which has made America fall further and further behind other countries in education

    - These idiots still think Obama's stimulus created jobs

  • God this guy is a douchebag.

  • I wished time machines did exist. You wanna know why? So that way i could send all these socialist back in time too soviet Russia during Stalin's purges and show them how great the "great democracy of socialism" is.

  • The recession is helping Al Not-so-Sharpton keep the weight off? sure, like hes hurting for money. what a douche.

  • Endless questions with no answers. And the answers we got were mostly the people he was interviewing BSing with their usual routine of avoiding getting into complicated matters because they don't have answers.

  • What Julian Bond won't tell you is that Michael King ALSO vowed to his wife "forsaking all others... until death do we part." But spent his time out "Wreckin 'dem up" [other women].

  • @biggerturtle I have an education, a real job, been to college, and I'm not lazy unlike yourself and the Tea Party/Glenn Beck rally people. That's real productive: sitting in a chair or standing around holding up signs.

  • @rpierre777 Get an education, get a real job, go to college and stop being a lazy fuck

  • Odd how a phrase change time, country & political philosophy & yet still stay the same. 'One Nation' was a slogan for a conservative movement started by Disraeli during the 19th century in opposition to the (classical) liberalism of the Gladstonian Liberal party. It advocated a paternalistic interventionist state. Now people who call themselves liberals who champion a paternalistic state use 'One Nation' against people who call themselves conservatives but who are more like gladstonian liberals
