This song is why the stage performance was so much better than the movie. You can clearly hear the complete and utter lunacy in the character that makes him pitiable rather than despicable. The movie whittled away at Todd to make him seem more 'dead', but all it did was make it impossible to relate and sympathize with him. This song in the movie was just plain aggressive and savage, whereas on the stage it was one of the most emotional moments.
