Even before debate on the draft constitution commences in parliament Prime Minister Raila Odinga and president Mwai Kibaki seem to be taking different positions on the now controversial issue of abortion. While president Kibaki has assured church leaders that any clause in the draft that would allow abortion will be rejected, the prime minister yesterday asked churches to back down on the issue. Church leaders have threatened to campaign against the draft if the clause is not removed .

  • @kenyapoor AND WHAT IF HE IS NOT?>>>>JUST WAIT AND SEE HIM TAKE OVER. U R ATRIBALIST

  • what's this obsession with church leaders trying to choose for women. Women must have a choice made after consulting with their pastors and their doctors. No one is pro-abortion..this is called pro-choice. Let common sense pre-vail not your religious views.

  • KIKUYUS OPEN your EYES...RAILA 100% He is NOT CIRCUMCISED...The LEADER must be CIRCUMCISE...

  • Freegas! Raila is the better one.

  • Until the end of the eighteenth week of the pregnancy the choice of an abortion is entirely up to the woman, for any reason whatsoever. After the 18th and until the 22nd week a woman needs a permission from the doctor to have an abortion. Permission for these late abortions is usually granted for cases in which the fetus or mother are unhealthy.

  • in ma opinion raila is just a master of kenyan politics, saying the same thing kibaki is saying only in the political language they wanna hea,and by he way why shud the church be a threat,,,,

  • Hang on a minute, since when did we require the approval ogf the church before we passed any laws? Idiots!

  • Any politician backing this travesty is a fool.

  • some body is busy using catholics to scuttle the review process and Kenyans should be up in arms to reject any such attempt
