i just checked for the song, and wouldnt you know it, there is a different arrangement. the version im talking about is part of a split lp with the islanders "she hit `im in tha `ead with ah fryin pan ... she killed nobody but her husband." anyway, that version of "venezuela" not "sweetheart of venezuela" has the same curious sound in the back, but with a human voice.

good old boys with a ring modulator. i have a different version of this song. i suggest listening to the song venezula by harry belafonte. the ring modulator and the frumpy rhythm seem too modern and the recording too clear, the vocals particularly. have you done the old switch-a-roo?
