DO NOT TRY THIS How to remove a UPVC window from the outside .Video demonstration of security of UPVC window .These snapper clips are APPROVED BY FENSA according to ANGLIAN WINDOWS for installing THEIR WINDOWS .Demonstration of what happens when only one set of snapper clip are used
The security features of the window frame passed the test but let down by the incorrect installation or lack of proper fixings. As you can see the snapper clips give way quite easily. The snapper clip rely on spring tension to hold window in place , once the spring tension is gone they fail to do the job properly.Window frame need to have a gap of 5 mm around to take account of expansion and contraction of the upvc due to temperature rise and fall. So the overall space between the frame and brick work becomes 10mm on one side As you can see this allows the window frame to be moved side ways .

  • Well done, i like the way you show, how easily a windows fitted with the snapper clips can be removed, i wonder have they been testing for fire Ratings ?, it appears that the clips used, are not upto the job, if a window can be removed so easily then if there was a fire, in the Home, its possible the windows might fly out in one piece ?,
