Ch 82
The doorbell rang and I ran to get it.
Chace stood there smiling. "Hey, Riley..."
I smiled. "Hey chace..."
I was about to close to door when Joe stopped me. "Riley? Didn't you just get back?"
I chuckled "Sorry...bye..."
I smiled and walked to car with Chace. He got in his side and I got in mine.
We drove to the movies and he picked a romantic movie. We sat down in the back row and ate twizlers.
Halfway through the movie I turned to him and kissed him, in a hopeless attempt to get Penn off my mind. He kissed back and moved the arm rest from between us. I smiled and we kept kissing until the movie ended.
I pulled away and Chace smiled.
"We should get going..." I said and got up, walking out of the theatre.
He came after me and then drove me home. He walked me to my door and went to kiss me but I tuned my head.
He frowned. "What's wrong?"
I sighed. "Chace...I'm sorry I kissed you today...I had planned on not having anything serious for a while...but there's this guy" I smiled like an idiot looking down, thinking of Penn. "I just can't seem to get him off my mind."
Chace chuckled. "I get it...its fine..."
He kissed my cheek then walked away. I walked in and called Alex.
"Hello, Love..." he said.
"Hey Alex, look I really like you but-"
He cut me off. "But you don't want to date me, right?"
I sighed. "I'm sorry..."
"It's fine...I'm just glad you told me now..."
"Thank you...I have to go..."
"Bye..."
"Bye." I hung up.
I looked at the time and smiled. I figured I could still call Pen at 11.
I dialed and Penn picked up.
"Hello?" he said and I swear my heart skipped a beat.
"Hey, Penn..."
"Riley! Hey."
"Look, it's really not like me to call first, but I really wanted to talk to you..." I bit my lip nervously.
"Um...I'm actually kind of busy..." I could the roar of his car engine. "Can I call you later?"
"Yeah, definitely..." I was almost too nervous.
"Okay, bye Riles. " He hung up on me.
I sighed and changed into my Pajamas. I grabbed my guitar and was mentally blocked and then turned on the T.V. but nothing interested me.
I then walked downstairs and grabbed the tub of ice cream out of the fridge. I grabbed a spoon and started eating ice cream.
I soon looked up and saw Joe. He laughed "hungry?"
I blushed. "Let's just say I'm done dating more than 1 guy..."
I took a big bite.
"So which one are you in love with?" Joe asked me.
I chocked on my ice cream and then swallowed. I avoided Joe's eyes when I said "I'm not in love with anyone..."
"Then why are you avoiding my eye contact?" Joe said.
I sighed and looked at Joe, smiling.
"I like him...I can't seem to get him off my mind." I whispered.
"Who?"
"Penn..." I said smiling, then It faded. "But I called him today and he said that he was kind of busy and that he would call me later. It's now," I checked my watch "an hour later and he still hasn't called...Maybe he'll call tomorrow..."
Just as I said this, my cell phone rang. Joe smiled at me. "Answer it!"
I smiled and picked it up. "Hello?"
"Hey Riley..." I heard Penn say.
I gripped the phone tight. "Penn, hi..."
"Sorry about before, I had to go pick up Poppy because she was in a really dangerous situation, but you probably don't want to hear about it..." he said.
"I don't mind..." I said smiling.
"Well, she called me like an hour ago crying because she said she was scared and it turns out she was at a party that had drugs and beer, so I went to get her and she and like 3 of her friends were at a college party and it was totally crazy, so I had to drive them home and I had to scream at her and, I just wish I didn't have to parent her, you know?" he said, totally frustrated.
"Yeah I get it, but what about your parents?" I asked, curious.
"They died when I was 19..." he said.
"Oh, god! I'm sorry, foot in mouth disease..."I said.
"No, it's okay...it just gets rough when Poppy acts out...she just need someone to help her out." He said.
"I could help her out, if you want...I don't mind."
"Wow, that would be amazing, are you sure you want to?"
"I would love to help Poppy out..." I said.
"Thank you...can you come over Tomorrow morning?" he asked.
I smiled. "Definitely..."
"Okay...I have to go, but I'll see you?"
"I'll see you tomorrow..." I said and he hung up.
I turned to Joe and he smiled. I blushed. "Shut up..."
I then went to my room and peacefully fell asleep.
