It is truly refreshing for me to hear this kind of "sound" for the first time, coming from a fellow "live in concert" while on tour with his band- back in the mid 90's!! Westerberg has such a soulful, rich quality to his voice- it is very intriguing. I totally dig both the music and lyrics. I knew his name & repution for years now, and I am happy that I can finally say that I am a fan of his music and talent!

Amazing. It's always been one of my favorites.
wow, a tip of the hat to the 1950's ballad sound with "They're Blind" from the 1989 album "Don't Tell a Soul". I remember some Mats fans hated "Don't Tell A Soul" and "All Shook Down" but in retrospect these albums have some real angst, truth and poetry. The quality cannot be faked. Westerberg is a MASTERFULl writer without a college degree or high school diploma. Real talent requires no degree or credential, it is just talent.
