  • you hear more of a difference when you use earbuds

and with #2 you can hear a bit more of the background instruments

  • I agree, with cheap speakers, it's to hard.

  • i couldnt really notice a difference except for the first bit on number two, so does that mean aac is a compressed format?

  • AAC is like mp3, they are almost the same, it's just AAC is slightly better at compressing audio.

  • Ugh ugh bullshit AAC is such a better codec than MP3... Just Watch My AAC vs MP3 video and im comparing them at only a 64kbps bit rate!

  • I used terrible speakers (Macbook) and I easily hear the difference. I will say though, that this is a terrible song to use for testing which one suffers the most from compression, as it has all sorts of filters to /make/ it sound like it's been through terrible compression.

  • Not Much Difference, just converted all songs on iTunes to 128kbs cause was running out of memory. Lol

  • I got it right! The song was shite though

  • I noticed a small difference, but it was very close

  • Before I got out my 150 dollar headphones I couldn't tell any difference. Then I realized 2 had a bit more depth and clarity in my opinion

  • @whitekid3 not really, transcoding 128kbps MP3 to 128kbps AAC (which youtube uses) normally incurs no loss, (aac is based on mp3) so there is no generation loss!

  • i thought 2 was higher quality because it sounded warmer and had more depth

  • FUCK!!!!! I swore I knew it and I could hear the difference, the 128k one had a crisper lowend and thinner high end but with milder less punch in the midd.

Maybe that's due to lack of frequencies from the 256.

Overall the difference is like comparing 160kb mp3 to 192kb mp3 it's pointless...

Great video really helped me. Now I have to figure out vorbis

  • whats the name of the song?

  • Well I got it wrong. But that's great news to me because it means I can encode songs at 128 kbps for my iphone and save me quite a bit of memory. Which is really useful because I cheaped out and bought the 16 gig version :(
