"Revving" one of my first versions of the SLI (Sonic Lock Intake) Pulse Jet, 2005.
Rough test run, clamped to a box behind our old shop.
The smoke is from grease on the removable tail section, although amusing, not integral to the operation of this otherwise very clean running jet.
Development is still in progress with this system, 2008.

  • as in the force of the deflagration "closes" the intake and the pulse only goes down the exhaust?

because ive never heard of SLI before and ive read a lot on pulse jets

  • Yup, thats the theory as well as pumping against the cc once it falls from peak pressure, supercharge effect.

It has been a long time since i did anything with this concept and engine series, havnt even thought on the theory.

Might get back to it one day.

    Thanx for your interest.

  • SLI?

  • Sonic Lock Intake. Not sure if i achieved the exact implication of the acronym, just a naming convention of concept at the time.
