My choice for the greatest scene in musical theater history.
Ten minutes of character development and courtship in a perfect marriage of dialogue and song, built on the creative use of the conditional -- what would it be like IF I loved you.
This scene if filled with poetry and pure magic.

Perhaps the greatest scene in American musicals. This is American music at its best. Rodgers was the American Puccini.

The utterly irresistible power of Eros has never been more sweetly -- or more poignantly -- evoked than in this miraculous scene. Neither one of these characters ever stood a chance to escape their fate once their eyes made contact with each other.

Bonnie's pap sure could sing! My goodness. And this was 25 years after the premiere. How many remember Jan Clayton as the mom in the original t.v. "Lassie" with Tommy Rettig?

What a ridiculous thing to say. Snyder's voice is a typical bland Broadway voice that only functions at all with a microphone. Raitt sang au natural so to speak. Big beautiful voice, a superb musician. A LEGEND. You must be Snyder's mother?
