  • From a fellow Rubicon owner...NICE!

  • Ever had a Jeep? I have one and it has never let me down. Jeep Wrangler TJ model is the best vehicle I have ever owned.

  • The Toyota is more highway -worthy, has a bed to haul stuff, the Extra Cab has back seats.

You spend MOST of your time ON the road if it's your daily driver.

Look at places where people have to LIVE in tough off-road environments like Africa and South America, and you'll see Toyota and Land Rover. Hardly a Jeep anywhere, and there are plenty of people there that can have anything they want.

I drive a 2004 Rubicon now. My daily driver. Good, yes. But not great.

  • The rear is a limited slip. The lockers were only front, but rarely used.

The diff's in a Toyota are about the best in the business. At least Toyota had the wisdom to put outer shaft seals on their diff's so you don't DESTROY your Rubi D44 diff (seals & bearings) the first time you go in to deep mud.

Dana's are great but they aren't the only game in town, which is why Jeep doesn't do so well in competition.

The Suzuki Samurai will go more places than most anything.

  • @AGoodBuzz

I drive Military vehicles and am looking at getting a rubicon,

Your right, i do not have first hand experience driving a tacoma, or wrangler off road, but its down to physics.

A shorter wheel based truck compared to a smaller one will be able to go more places (mostly, there are disadvantages) and rubi's have front and rear locking diffs, you said your yota has only fronts. So i dont understand how your tacoma can outperform your jeep, unless you are using speed and not crawling.

  • My Tacoma had front lockers and it's all it ever needed. No Jeep ever left me behind. I beat the s**t ouf my Tacoma and it stood up to all of it.

My Rubicon on the other hand has needed a few repairs, one very costly, from wheeling my Tacoma did all the time.

I'm only speaking from personal experience of owning and wheeling both.

    And you are speaking from...?

  • @AGoodBuzz

the tacoma does not have locking diffs, does not have the ground clearence of a jeep, and its a much larger wheel base. plz oh plz tell me how this goes everywhere a jeep will without repairs.

  • I don't own a jeep, but I've never personally heard of anyone's jeep giving them any problems. I've also never heard of anyone owning a Toyota that gave them problems either.

  • Forgot to mention that I have a 2004 Rubicon now: 3" lift on 33's with lot's of other goodies. I'd take a Tacoma over this pile of biff any day.

  • Then I guess you never owned a Honda or Toyota...

Honda is the most reliable and capable sedan line hands down.

Toyota Tacoma 4x4 will go everyehwere a Jeep will and won't have to be repaired every time.

I own or have owned ALL of the above, and Jeeps are not that great. You need to replace almost everything with heavier duty and/or aftermarket stuff, and if you don't then you'll be reapiring it everytime you "seriously" wheel it.

  • i hate jeeps but nice vid
