  • Re, Wallace: There was no such thing as film in his day.

    Re. Attenborough: He didn't say that. And inasmuch as he refers to such an earlier statement, he is indicating that postulating the existence of a superstition-based being (a 'god') to explain these birds' existence is unnecessary.

  • Jesus said that nothing is hidden which will not be revealed, and as far as the birds of paradise are concerned, that prophecy is now days quite fulfilled by filming, so what are Wallace and Attenborough talking about when they say that the birds of paradise were created for to live hidden in the jungle?

  • The quote that Sir Attenborough recited is not exactly how Wallace wrote it, but nonetheless it is awe inspiring.
