Finally...an update on my hair growth since the Big Chop in May '09. I tried out lots of products and styles these past months.

Also, I talk about my Heat Damaged hair. In July, I was not careful and damaged a few pieces in front which were probably already a little weak from before. Thankfully the rest of my hair was ok. I have not straightened it since.

I am going to treat myself to the Chi product line for my next flat iron in a month or so. Before that, I'll be deep conditioning 2x's a week and doing more protective styles to get my dry hair back in shape. Leave a comment if you have any questions. Thanks for watching!

  • I really enjoyed the video. I cut 4 inches about 2 weeks ago and my hair come just above my neck. I am 1 week shy from 2 months post perm. Trying to get to 6 months before my big chop but I dont think I'm going to make it. hahaa

  • @Goingnatural27 Looking back, I definitely wish I just would have chopped it sooner. Worrying about the 2 textures was just too much by month 9. Still, it was nice to have a little bit to play with. Keep us posted and Thanks for watching! :)

  • Great video. I am transitioning and I have made the mistake of flat ironing without starting on a newly freshed head with heat protectant. Question, do you do you flat twists on wet or dry hair? They came out great.

  • The flat twists in the video were done on wet/damp hair. On 2nd day hair I like to use Mane and Tail Conditioner to reactivate the Lock & Twist Gel. Then the twists stretch out a little more. My hair seems like it has to be damp or the style won't set. How long do you think you'll transition for?

  • My goal is to transition for 18months. So far, I have been going strong for 14. I don't think I am going to make the 18. I am SO tired of dealing with the two textures.

  • Wow! 14 months..I salute you. 9 months was all I could handle. If you keep going till the 18 month mark though, you'll be past the winter. I liked that I chopped when it started getting warmer because I did a lot of wash n go's. Good luck!

  • u remind me so much of my aunt kelly!

good job girl. ur hair looks great!

  • I really like your hair .. Maybe you could get a buzz cut on the sides and the back and leave the top all cool lookin. If youre into that kinda weird style .. lol

  • Love your twistouts! Cute!

  • I have never straighten my natural hair (nothing for more than a year). I have no urge to do so b/c I don't think it would look good on me. I like longer sassier (?) styles. I'm so glad I saw your vid so I can avoid heat damage that way. Thanks for the tips and I will be stealing your flat twist style~
