How often do C-17's visit nellis? Is it just random or do they come for specific events?
-
I wish I lived near this airbase

@MiizStY Yeah I love the F/A-18 :) I want to fly one someday, The E/A-18G Is a modified F/A-18F, and its primarily used for Electronic Ware fare, similar to the E/A-6B. You can tell by the wing tips to determine the differences, The E/A-18G has little pods on them.

@Legendary588 Are there any differences? I love the F18 so sorry if i annoy you lol
-
@MiizStY actually that was an E/A-18G Growler :) But yeah I don't know why either..
-
The purpose for the F/A-18F?

Yea, We need JOBS!!!! mission employment sounds good.

Those hornets touch the tarmac fast compared to the 15's and 16's. Carrier gear is beefy.

love the livery on the aggressors. f-16s come in hot. when they taxied by you reminded me how loud they can be when taxiing. t-37 was the loudest ever (ear piercing frequency).

Hey 808, I'm going to be in vegas July 2nd and 3rd. Is anything special happening at Nellis? Is it worth trying to spot there?
Any idea why the first F-16 did a go around?

@AndrewtheATC Being single engine jets, the pilots must regularly practice what is called a Simulated Flame Out approach. To do so, the pilot does a low approach, enters the downwind and starts its high climb once in the downwind. Once it reaches the assigned and safe altitude in the SFO airspace, which is just above the base, the pilot circles the base once, reduces power to idle, drops the plane all the way back to the runway as if the engines were off.

@8081rt Once the approach is completed, the pilot must got around and either do it again, or enter the downwind to land. This is also used to burn up some fuel.
