Salman Rushdie writes as marriage crumbles

British author Salman Rushdie says he sought refuge from the "wreckage" of his latest divorce in writing his new book.

British author Salman Rushdie's latest novel is out in stores. The "Enchantress of Florence" is about court intrigue in Florence and Mughal era city of Fatehpur Sikri. The Indian born writer says he sought refuge in writing the book at a time when his fourth marriage was crumbling.

Does anyone find it curious that the only two responses below with their pathetic attempt of somehow looking down on Rushdie can not even write comprehensible English. Rushdie does not need your pity and he certainly is not dirty simply by writing a book, which was misunderstood by so many and continues to be misunderstood by both Westerners and Easterners. I assure you a vast majority of the people that have negative or even positive opinion of Rushdie can't come close to understanding him.

this guy is smart.. but i pity him..his wife used him.. and left him.. tsk..tsk.. wait.. his wife are smarter. that's what happens to a guy who thinks he is just too smart.. he'll never be or would ever be.. poor guy.. i seriously pity him...this is lesson people.. take note! don't be too ignorant and don't act smart, if you are just not!
