  • 7 months later and i love the results. if i get tremors coming out i can get tweaked. got invited my the rep for the devices to give a speech at their annual seminar.

  • @azthundercloud That is awesome! I have to go in and get adjusted next week. My left hand has been acting up and it's driving me crazy. Glad to hear you're doing great. Jeff.

  • i am having it done within the next few months. doing all the pre ops now. worried s...less until i saw your vid. thanks. at the end of my rope with these damn tremors and am going for it.

  • You'll be fine. All of the anxiety is mostly preop, and I went through it twice (one for each side of the brain), but it was worth it. Write to me again if you like, I like to hear how others are doing. I hope all goes well with you. Jeff.

  • I'm 29 and my tremors are noticeable enough that my father has suggested the surgery; however, I have known people for whom the effects of the surgery lasted four or five years at most.

For someone living with ET, who is terrified of going under for surgery, what would you say?

  • First thing you've got to ask yourself, how severe are your tremors, and is it bad enough where it really affects everyday tasks. I've had tremors since I was 13 years old, and I'm now 47. My father and grandmother had tremors severly ... and a number of family member have it as well. The surgery was a walk in the park, but does have some limitations. For instance, no contact sports (no big deal for me). Having DBS was and is life changing.

    Jeff.

  • did the mri. have a date for april or may. the doctor doing the procedure is 30years old, LOL. man i grilled him on how many times he did this and credentials and he wasnt offended. he went to ucla med. they will be doing both sides at once and then 6 weeks later doing the pacemaker unit as outpatient.

  • Turn your telly down mate!

  • I'm not there yet. I had a hard time hearing you because of the background noise.
