An engineer for bell labs told me that you can cut Pyrex glass with glowing nichrome wire. While he worked there they would pull a glowing nichrome element through 1ft diameter pyrex pipes with 1in wall thickness like a hot wire though ice. The technique is better that any grinding technique as there are no residual microfractures.

thats a problem with tempering you got the glass hot in one spot to stop it from shattering you need to heat the whole window up slowly then cut it and cool it slowly

This is why they cut glass under a layer of water when they use plasma. At least on a larger industrial scale. And that cutter is way weak.
