they're normally quiet when you first aquire them, due to thinking they've been captured by a predator. They soon learn we want to be friends though.

My Budgie was dead silent for about the first 11 days. Then I played some Budgie sound clips off the internet and he started singing. Hasn't shut up since! lol Keep talking to your Budgie. If he never hears another Budgie and you keep repeating the same phrases to him, he could become a "talker"!
