Lenawee United Way - Funded Programs in 2010-2012
• Adrian Medical Clinic -- Family Medical Center
The Adrian Medical Clinic offers a comprehensive array of primary and preventative on-site health services to low-income residents of Lenawee County.
• Childcare -- Adrian Community Preschool
Adrian Community Preschool provides a no-cost, safe, educational setting for 3-5 year old low income children, allowing families to pursue employment or advance their education knowing their children are taken care of.
• Children's Advocacy Program -- Family Counseling & Children's Services
The Children's Advocacy Program provides support to children residing in the Catherine Cobb Domestic Violence shelter.
• Citizenship and Community Life -- HOPE Community Center
Partnering with multiple agencies, clubs, and groups, Citizenship and Community Life provides adults with disabilities the opportunity to gain skills and experiences necessary for them to better integrate into society as active participants.
• Club-based Mentoring -- Boys & Girls Club of Lenawee
The Club-based Mentoring program serves members of the Boys & Girls Club who are in need of additional companionship and guidance to help assure their best academic, vocational, moral, and emotional development.
• Complete Approach to Self-sufficiency -- Community Action Agency
Through the complete approach to self-sufficiency program, Community Action Agency provides individualized case management services, ongoing and intensive, for local families to help reduce system barriers and increase opportunities to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
• Counseling Voucher Program -- Catholic Charities/Family Counseling & Children's Services
The Clinical Counseling Voucher Program is a collaborative project between Catholic Charities and Family Counseling & Children's Services that provides mental health counseling to the economically disadvantaged. Clients can present vouchers for services at either agency to support their mental health and/or substance abuse counseling needs.
• Daily Distributions -- Associated Charities
Daily Distributions provides no-cost shopping opportunities for clothing and household goods up to three visits per month per family or individual.
• Family Support Program -- Child Care Network
Family Support Program provides case management and financial assistance for childcare to low-income families enabling them to work or attend job training.
• Homeless to Home Ownership -- Habitat for Humanity
In the Homeless to Home Ownership program, Habitat for Humanity purchases and renovates foreclosed homes for families who have been homeless, leading to home ownership, financial stability, and stabilization of neighborhoods.
• Housing First -- Lenawee Emergency and Affordable Housing Corporation
The Housing First program is focused on getting a homeless family in a stable, permanent housing situation as quickly as possible and then offering the support services needed to remain in such housing.
• Lenawee Dental Clinic -- Family Medical Center
Lenawee Dental Clinic provides affordable, quality dental care for anyone who is in need, including patients with traditional dental insurance, Medicaid, Delta Dental Healthy Kids, MI Child, and private pay. Lenawee Dental Clinic also sees patients from area group homes who are mentally and physically disabled.
• Legal Advice & Representation -- Legal Services of South Central Michigan
Legal Services of South Central Michigan provides a full range of legal services to eligible clients, including counsel and advice, document preparation, assistance in negotiations, and representation in court and administrative hearing. LSSCM handles civil legal matters including assisting in domestic relations actions where there is domestic violence, landlord tenant and foreclosure actions, debt collection actions, and access to public benefits including Medicaid and Social Security Disability Benefits. These services permit vulnerable individuals and families to obtain or maintain stable housing and live in homes free of violence.
• Workers on Wheels -- Goodwill Industries
Workers on Wheels (WOW) is a community partnership providing dependable transportation to people who have demonstrated a willingness to elevate themselves off public assistance by completing job-training opportunities leading to employment.
• Youth Start -- Goodwill Industries
The Youth Start program serves at risk/homeless youth, ages 15-18 in Lenawee County, in their development of job and related self-sufficiency skill through job and skills training and job coaching or mentoring.
