The Jag35 Full Shoulder Rig is a professional shoulder rig based on industry standard 15mm rods. The system includes the popular JAG35 Cage as well as a dual-handle support system with shoulder pad, 3 lb counter weight and tons of flexibility.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be using the Jag35 Shoulder Rig and writing my review based on in-the-field real-world use. For now I have created a preview video for those of who considering this new rig.

You can also use (and purchase) the shoulder rig without the cage unit. While I never got around to demonstrating this in the video all you would have to do is mount the camera or quick-release plate directly to the should rig platform instead of mounting the cage.

Once published you'll be able to read my review over at Cameratown.com as well as my other reviews of photography and cinematography gear.

  • For me I can focus fairly easily if I place the right handle closer to the center (not directly under) and the left handle at the outer edge. My left hand is the hand I use to turn the focus ring on the lens or the knob on the follow focus unit (when I'm using it). By keeping the right handle near the center you'll be able to support the rig with that one hand while allowing your other hand to focus when needed.

  • Great stuff! How did you attach the manfrotto quick release onto the rig?

  • @ericjasoncruz It attaches between the camera and one of the rail blocks with 1/4-20".

  • Can you use a camcorder with a 35mm adapter?

  • @LumpyHippo This would be a question to ask JAG, but I am sure it can. You may want the straight rig instead of the offset rig, which was reviewed here. The offset rig is best for DSLR shooters since it puts the LCD display in front of your eyes instead of off to the side.

  • you cant call it the "jag35" that is a popular 35mm dof adapter...research.

  • This is made by JAG35, the same company that makes the 35mm DOF adaptors...... research back atch ya!

  • Hmmm... how do you focus if you're using both hands to support it?

  • What tripod is that in the back?

    Very nice video

  • this aint no stabilizer or nothing.you really cant move with it with alil shake.it cost so much for nothing..ill pay 300 at max for it

  • That is a FANTASTIC review my friend. I'm planning on getting into HDSLR videography and I have found the whole camera rig thing very confusing. I like the configuration you've presented and I think I will definitely follow your lead. Jag35 is indebted to you! I'll also probably go with the zacuto viewfinder since it seems to be what everyone is using.

  • Very good review. Thank you.

  • an you send me a link of what to get to connect the quick release to the shoulder rig? It will mean alot!

  • I cant see that shoulder mount on Jag's website.

  • Arnold Rimmer

  • @robblac Okay little brat.....that was really pathetic......why don't you go to school......
