  • How do u thin using your method

  • @kyjeep01 I thin to where each plant is a foot apart. The double row is 2 1/2 feet apart. One double row is seperated from another double row by 3 feet. If you have plenty of room you can seperate one double row from another by 3 1/2 feet so you can walk between the rows easier.

  • the seed bag you showed stated "not for food or feed"...what does that mean?

  • @ekim2003 Basically it means that it's for planting only because it's been treated with some sort of chemical fungicide or something or other. That's why it's got a red color. The color will actually come off easily and turn the palm of your hand red until you wash it off.

  • Please answer back. Where Did you buy the seed.

  • @d3moises At my local Ace Hardware store. However it sold seeds long before it became an Ace franchise. I'm pretty sure all Ace Hardware stores don't sell these varieties of corn seeds. However Golden and Silver Queen corn are pretty common varieties.

  • might be a quarantine thing too

  • @ekim2003 It says "not for food or feed" because they are "treated seeds". You can recognize chemically treated seed because, by law, the seed must be dyed. This is considered unacceptable for organic gardening. They are coated with synthetic fungicides. The chemical Captan is a pesticide found to cause cancer in laboratory animals. Although banned in 1990, an exception was made for some specific crops, and for its use as a seed treatment.
