During his varied career, Peter Taylor has lectured widely in Universities, published papers, acted as an advisor to various governments, the EU and the UN, and followed the rule of science whilst at the same time studying and training firstly in yoga, then shamanic practice. The latter has taken him to many teachers. He was initiated by the legendary Himalayan yogi, Babaji, and has taught yogic practice and spiritual training focusing on the healing power of breath. He has also worked with Native Americans and neo-Druids and leads an international shamanic Ghost Dance project. He is currently working on an integration of the scientific and shamanic world views in a book provisionally titled Shamanic Ecology.

His group became heavily involved in the nuclear issue, energy policy, and ocean pollution (his autobiography Shiva's Rainbow ends with the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior).
Peter was glad to move on in the mid-1990's to more creative conservation work in wildlife and forestry. He published Beyond Conservation: a wildland strategy in 2005 and set up a network of pioneering land managers called the Wildland Network. In the last few years he has looked very carefully at climate issues and has a new book just published Chill -- a reassessment of global warming theory.
