@helofstorm i am 59 and i know about the struggle between dylan and baez in the 70-teens

@cynmarie33 I also thought, or hoped! it was a tribute to bobby Kennedy.
-
@venakew he wrote some songs about her, though
-
@peahen87 Yea, but she was always a GOOD creep, compared to the lot of them we have today.

@venakew His songs reflect otherwise, but he didn't want to be responsible for his folk followers leaning on him to be their political voice. I think it's one of the reasons he shifted his musical directions when he did. He needed that weight off and as angry as they were about it (booing his first performances) he "safely" made the transition. Joan was idealistic about the fans rallying for change. He was realistic.

@Scout4Me1 ... primarily of course, but then, 2:44, 45.

I had read something completely different...that this was a song written in tribute to Bobby Kennedy. I'd like to think it was...

She's such a creep.

@Scout4Me1 actually he always wrote poems and published them in books, he got inspired by jack kerouac and allen ginsberg (second one was a trusty friend of him) - both poets. always remember: never say or write about something you obviousely don't know!

@helofstorm My dear visitor, we are ancient dinosaurs. But too be really cool and know something about music, Joan is singing about Bob Dylan.

This is a quite a sad and futile song, cause I'm pretty certain dylan never cared about this stuff

@venakew Yes, that is true.

Certainly this is about her wanting him to join her in her crusades, but I think at the heart of it is her realization that he was not really with HER, personally, like she had hoped; not just about him taking a different path from her political views. I could be wrong.

This is the first song by Joan pleading with Dylan to join her agenda of peace and nonviolence, and nothing more.
