Many sales courses have taught sales people in the past to have a mass of energy when making their sales, they teach students to "be aggressive" and never give up. Some even teach to fake being "low-pressure" so that sales professionals can get past the gatekeeper / receptionist.
The problem is, all of these types of programs no matter how effective they are, they all create a one-way avenue towards an "uncomfortable" close, as they all teach that "if you never ask, you never receive" right?
I'm going to challenge you now, and invite you to go to the next level of cold call prospecting by only looking at your calls from this angle, and that is... Go into each sale with the goal of opening a conversation.
Now you might think this is crazy, the goal of a sales call is to make the appointment then close that appointment with a sale or some step forward right?... WRONG...
Your only goal is to open a two-way dialogue based around the truth of the situation and allowing your prospect to feel "comfortable" with talking openly with you, whether there is a fit for your product / service or not.
I know this mindset may not make not make complete sense to you if you're reading this for the first time, but it truly has been tested by thousands of sales clients that I've coached and consulted with. It's not a matter of it not working the first time round, it's a matter of going deeper and deeper into the natural cold calling mindset of connecting with people.
You will learn much more in future videos that will guide you through the natural cold calling process of reaching clients.
@HealthCoverageHero Excellent words here !! I wished that the person who , recently, called my mother,s house here in D.C. would have realized what you say when he attempted to sell home improvement... that we needed to see licenses / customer references, etc. Not some slip of paper left on the door; Person was polite so the call ended well.

Great information--you are 100% correct in your approach to eliminate pressure, focus on locating others' needs, build trust, and learn of customers' issues first--rather than making it about the company we represent. I was fortunate to learn this from Ari Galper through the Unlock the Game program over 5 years ago. It really helped to change my mindset in how I approached cold calls and the sales process. Keep up the good work.
