Our 48 qt Igloo Ice Cube Cooler DIY home-made fog chiller. It's a modification based on the VORTEX FUSION (google it. it's cool. and it's much easier to buy one). The DIY chillers were produced using modification ideas we threw about and shared on HAUNTFORUM.COM (check 'em out. they're good people) and ice chest cooler ideas that pre-date this video. Using the compact cube shape was my idea. It was interesting to share the modification ideas within a community of Yard Haunters. We don't sell these home-made versions. Neither should you. We give credit where credit is due. So should you. Refer to the dates on videos. The most original hauntforum community modification being the trash bag on the outlet to create back pressure to slow down and spread the fog. The second original idea is the pseudo venturi inlet pipe to create suction.

Test 1 at 0:30 - 1" Inlet Air Convection Gap & Straight Pipe Outlet (Poor results)

Test 2 at 1:25 - 2" Inlet Air Convection Gap & Straight Pipe Outlet (Best results)

Test 3 at 2:10 - Pseudo Venturi Air Convection Inlet & Straight Pipe Outlet (Good results)

Test 4 at 2:50 - 1" Air Convection Inlet Gap & Trash Bag on Outlet (Poor results)

Test 5 at 3:45 - 2" Air Convection Inlet Gap & Trash Bag on Outlet (Good results)

Test 6 at 4:25 - Pseudo Venturi Inlet & Trash Bag on Outlet (Good results)

Additional Bonus Test to Prop at 5:20 -- Pseudo Venturi Inlet & 3 Duct to Cauldron (Best results for this application)

Temperature was 60 degrees and clear with no wind. Covered porch set-up was so the fog testing would not bother the neighbors.

OVERALL CONCLUSIONS: The 48 qt holds enough ice in a 1/3 of-the-inside-height of the cooler freezing chamber area & a large enough expansion chamber to flash freeze the fog well. The low wattage fogger and 2" dia PVC using the reverse inlet 90 degree bend to the top inside the chiller works fine. The 2" inlet air convection gap produces a stronger output than the 1" gap. The trash bag outlet spreads the fog out more and isn't really necessary with such a low wattage fogger.

The Pseudo Venturi flush with the fogger and having (4) 3/4 holes nearest to the fogger slows the output velocity, shoots the fog out farther in a column, then results in a cloud and lingers well. That set-up is ideal for a fogging cauldron effect and doesn't require the use of a Mini Mister to pick up the slack when the low wattage fogger turns off to reheat often.

NOTE: When handling hardware cloth which is used to make the ice tray, wear work gloves. It can be sharp. And when constructing anything new with tools remember safety first.
