Nerds, rejoice. The long-dead Commodore 64 is back—with a vengeance. With a Dual Core 525 Atom processor, the latest Nvidia Ion2 graphics chipset, and the original 1982 clunky beige look, the computer is the company's latest hope as capitalizing on our appetite for new tech and our obsession with retro style. The system is set to take on the beefiest new PC titles and, of course, the classic games that made it a legend. With optional Blu-ray, high-def-TV compatibility, and a wide price range of $250 to $695, the Commodore 64 could be a surprise contender in the gaming-console industry this holiday season.

  • No, the Commodore 64 is not back. This is not a C64 -- it's a cheap commodity PC stuffed into a modified case by a company that doesn't deserve the Commodore name. Google Barry Altman and note how his other company currently has an "F" rating from the BBB. Retro hobbyists are tired of half-baked schemes by amateur men of industry to slap the Commodore name onto uninspired and unattractive hardware.

  • @joecassara I'm not a specialist in this thus I can't really identify with what you said, but the manner in which you said it inspires enough trust in your opinion for me to thumb you up :D

  • far too expensive for what is basicly a low spec pc in a retro casing.

buy a dead c64 or empty case the innards of say a laptop with a cracked screen,

ive got an independant replacement case, im looking for a suitable broken laptop

had one but i stripped it down and used the processor for something else.

only thing im not sure off is just how do you connect and map the commodore linux os to a real commodore keyboard ?

  • So this is the most expensive emulator ever created. I dont get why they didnt start making replacement parts and stuff like that for the Amiga and c64 instead of this custom chassi.

  • Why would you even wanna buy one? An absolute and complete waste of money. For the same price as one of these, you could upgrade your PC to something that would be way better, and actually get something for your money.

  • Am i the only one who reacts that a shitty ATOM and Ion circuit NEVER even would be close to running Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2?

  • I loved my Commodore 64

  • The idea is cool, but the prices are pretty high. A clever person could get a dead C64 for a few dollars, gut it and install a mini ITX mobo for a fraction of the cost. Of course, the difficult part would be getting the keyboard to work, but it can be done. A guy who did this to an SX-64 used a custom PCB to convert the C64 "switch matrix" keystrokes into PS/2 signals.

  • @zeke1312

  • SWEEEEET
