listen to early Melvins as well, they sound almost exactly like early NIRVANA (makes sense since the Melvins drummer, Dale Crover, was in the band off and on before Dave Grohl).

Early Melvins sounds nothing at all like early Nirvana, and in the early years, Dale wasn't the drummer of the Melvins. Nor was he ever officially in Nirvana, he just filled in for a session and a few shows. He's on a couple songs on Incesticide, and that's about it.

I worked for this amazing band in a punk bar in Newport Kentucky called The Jockey Club. They were amazing, and really nice guys to boot! They wrote "Big Bone Lick" the night before I worked for them. It's a state park in Kentucky. I heard the VERY FIRST rendition of the song, which definitely blossomed on the recording much later. But I feel privileged to have been there!!
