One commentator called him "the most beautiful Siegmund I've ever seen". His performance here is certainly intense, powerful, and very intelligently thought through.
"Yet there was not a single weak link in the cast, and two in particular were real finds...As Siegmund, Charles Hens exuded enormous confidence and athletic verve. Aged 35, he has a convincingly young voice, and though the timbre may be a bit bright for the role, he projects with astonishing intensity" Robert Markow, Opera Magazine London, June 2008.
