  • Don Black asked for a song that sounded typical 50's / 60's. So Larry Rushton & John Williams entered this song - and they won the contest!

The've also has recent success with Engelbert and US rock chic, Robin Beck.

Check out songs "Can't Hold On To Love" & " I Was Gonna Tell You Tonight" ( both on YouTube)

These guys are over 60 years old and still getting record deals.

    They deserve all their success.

I can't wait to hear the new recording - wil it be Scott Bruton on vocals??

  • @VeranoPublishing it will proberly be Alexis Gerred who's currently playing bobby in the west end

  • @COTTONHEAT i would like to confirm it will actually be me recording the track for Dreamboats and Petticoats 5. and also that i am back in the west end playing Bobby. x

  • @scottpaulbruton Hi Scott Pleased to hear that you are recording this and that you are back as bobby at the Playhouse you are the best person for the role

  • I never wrote this i was sent a link to this song so i decided to upload it on here to see what everyone else thinks

personally i prefer the other original song's that where written for the show like Dream Baby Dream , You won't Catch me Crying , Dreamboats & Petticoats & Did your Mamma tell you How to Rock & Roll which are all on here

  • Is this a wind up? "It's Cry ing Time Again" is very nicely put together, and maybe Buddy Holly would have sung it just as well as "Peggy Sue Got Married"... as it's almoste the same backing tune. A good try!!!

  • @bopperlen No this is the winning song they are currently performing it in the west end at the playhouse theatre

The competition was a farce and for what reasons we know not but I have my suspicions as do the many other bloggers on the subject - disgraceful for the show and the music industry !!

  • @VeranoPublishing

May I simply say on behalf of the many entrants (yes me included) regarding the so called songwriting competition what an utter disgrace the whole fiasco became, if you do not accept my word for it just look at the blogs!

We have received no response as to why a 30 year old and previously recorded (Paul Mcartneys contest runner up 1981) won a competition to find new material based on the show's story line.

It was a shameful waste of many hopefuls time and an insult to the show

  • Love it!! :)

  • Also a bit Bobby Vee ish too! Sorry about the multiple comments below... Youtube having a wobble!!

  • Very Buddy Holly ish (re-mash like Heartbeat???) but a nice song none the less.

Heard another good song that was entered for this contest called "dreamcoats and petticoats" at grahamharris . com

  • Very Buddy Holly ish (re-mash like Heartbeat???) but a nice song none the less.

  • The terms and conditions for this competition stated that the song was to be an original song that hadn't been recorded, heard in the public domain previously and to be original. Yes it's catchy, BUT hardly a showstopper and I guarantee people will not leave the theatre singing it! Congratulations to the songwriters, but I truly believe there were better songs written purely for the competition with the storyline in mind and that there needs to be questions answered concerning this!
