My rendition of the supposedly impossible to play whistle piece, played by Jean Luc Picard of Star trek The Next Generation and a little bonus, actual tunes played on a Naval "bosun's whistle"

  • Nice job and thanks !

This is probably my favorite episode and this flute solo is unforgettable !

    Best, LA Guy

  • @getsmartpaul I have seen every TNG episode about 25 times, and this is my LEAST favorite one, not because of the music, or because the acting was bad or anything, but because it freaking depressed me. I love the flute piece though, and always love playing it. Thanks.

  • I've listened to a lot of people try, you are for sure the closest I have ever heard, Great job!

  • @davyman2000 thanks!

  • Lovely flourishes you added to this rendition of "Inner Light!"

  • @NewEdit617 Thanks! Uh, so... what are flourishes...??

  • It was actually the whistle itself that could not be played, it was itself a non-functional prop.

    Excellent performance however :)

  • @hovo327 That's what I said....

  • Wonderful video. I've often wondered if inner light could be played on penny whistle and you've proved that it can. Now I just need to go out and buy one. :-)

  • the 1st call u did on the bosuns whistle is mess call, my uncle was in the navy and taught me that call, and my grandfather was ww2 navy, and i have a ww2 whistle 2

  • ironicly the song and the episode that picard plays the song goes by the same name

  • That first tune on the pussers whistle was Piping th Side which was done as an Officer came aboard I know as I spent enough time as a watchkeeper in the Royal Navy Piping the Side.

  • @IrishNut Not can't be played, but the actual whistle..It couldn't be played on that because that model was a non-functional prop
