The Rascals (initially known as The Young Rascals) were an American soul and rock band initially active during the years 1965--72. The band released numerous top ten singles in North America during the mid- and late-1960s, including the U.S. #1 hits "Good Lovin'" (1966), "Groovin'" (1967), and "People Got to Be Free" (1968). The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.[1]

  • As an African-American I can honestly say these guys were one of the best soul bands this country has ever produced. I saw them once, I believe at the Winter Concert for Peace at MSG in NY (1970?-71?). They didn't merely play and sing well, but were always respectful of the music and the black performers of the era. Beautiful music, beautiful time.

  • @skipper8257 The reason you don't hear this song much on oldies stations is that oldies stations as you and I define them don't exist in American radio. It's the same 50-100 tunes played over and over again ad nauseum to the point that you want to pull the insides out of the radio. This song, along with hundreds of others, should be played regularly on all stations everywhere regardless of format.

  • @SkidRowJosephine I love em too. Horn fills in a 60's rock tune were rare.
