Ultima Underworld - Full Game Speedrun (2/3)

This is speedrun completes my "Underworld" speedruns, and is considerably faster than my run for UW2 (by about 25 minutes). Again, I use some cool glitches and my route is extremely optimized. To my knowledge, this is the first and only existing recorded speedrun of this game.

thou ruleth! i was especially amazed at how casually u ran through tyball's maze of death without the crown of navigation. its like u do the whole game every day before breakfast or sth ;D

Heh, the plot.. save the girl, and in the end, the volcano explodes and erupts destroying the baddies lair. Now where have I seen that before.. at least the plot doesn't seem to be very 'revolutionary'..

I wonder why in this game those 'beneficial spells' seem to be just gray lumps of ashes. Couldn't they make them look different from each other, and like something beautiful? I know they in fact -are- just burned things (I saw the first part), but still. Why did the gamemakers plan them to have to look like that after the burning? They look like just ugly, grey turds. What was the thinking behind it, I wonder.. gfx-people's laziness?

I think this game came out when i was in 3rd or 4th grade.. i remember having anxiety attacks just playing it, really creeped me out, one of my favorite games. watching this has been seriously nostalgic.

No offense, but it would be MUCH more interesting to see a speedrun without resorting to game glitches (ie pile of debris). With that said, how did you manage to open the back door to Tyball's quarters?

Wait.. 8:25, after killing the mage in red robes you didn't get to save the princess? If memory doesn't fail me.. she gives you a key after being released, without it you can't go on.

It works in ultima underworld 2 as well.

I've used it myself to finish the second game. Even though it is a bug and it is cheating, it doesn't actually ruin the game, it just makes the game(s) easier to complete. And there is a lot of gameplay in these games, so not having to worry about potions and spells running out only serves to condense the more enjoyable parts of the game while eliminating the minutia.

Apparently it's bug abuse. He can still use the burned things, but they don't seem to be consumed from use, giving him infinite flight from a single flight potion, infinite light from one scroll of daylight, infinite fireballs from a single fireball wand etc.

This is the first time I see that bug in action.
