This looks TOO MUCH like the abc1 ident to be BBC.

Now, just like in the early days, BBC America are using BBC One's current graphics and chopped up versions of the idents.

That would be correct. While it was prominently used for a few months, it was quickly replaced with new idents featuring a more traditional BBC America logo -- though, unlike most BBC Station logos, The 'BBC' sits on top of the 'America', not beside it.
You can still see this old logo in the background on some upcoming program announcements, but that's about it...

Hmmm no BBC branding. Strange, the BBC and other TV Companys make a big deal out of branding especially with the digital world and a variety of channels. I guess that is why BBC ONE stopped refering to itself as just "1" for example, "Now on one, the News with Michael Buerk" Especially with ITV1.

this is an incredible intro...it's just no the bbc. bbc was always very "british" and should stay that way. trying to copy american idents just doesn't work for it.
I think the intro is still good and would be perfect for another broadcaster...unfortunaly just not this one.

Its a great logo. And like all things 'British' so ashamed of itself that it is trying to morph into a US ident. Where's the BBC in the company logo. Shamefull BBC.
