Another Skating Rink Closure.....

He who has ears, let him hear......
Unfortunately the thriving adult rollerskating community here in San Diego lost a great rink on 6/30/2007. This small video clip that I took last night shows a few highlights of the *very last session* for Rollerskateland of Chula Vista. It was invitation only only..for adults. A tribute was given to Augie, the rink owner who has done a wonderful job of running a great establishment in a beautiful facility for so many years. To Augie upon retirement I wish you 'mazel tov'...and thank you.

Sadly, this same scenario is playing out with many rinks on both the left and right coasts. Due to high property costs (and land) here in SoCal, prospects for a brand new facility to emerge would be no small undertaking. But for us adult skaters, we can only hope......

This was the spot! Closed??? How did this happen!!!! Wednesday adult nights were off the chain! I had some great times at that place. What about Aquarius in La Mesa? Sweetwater and Linda Vista? Hope they're still open.

Linda Vista is the only one remaining. Sweetwater is dedicated to roller hockey ,and Aquarius closed eons ago...

i started rollerskating at the old rink that was on 5th an h next to twin cinama and ferrils aguie gave me the chance to be a floor guard in 5 years i have became involve in the best support group ever, when we got the new rink we expanded and we all wish that this dream would last for ever , reguards what has happen i have done the best for him and did what ever it took to keep it going but things come to a end. when rollerskateland end so did i

OH MY I CANT BELIVE THAT ROLLER SKATE LAND SHUT DOWN THREE YEARS AGO,TO THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT WHAT A SHAME SO MANY MEMORIES.AFTER WATCHING 30 SECONDS INTO THIS VIDEO IT TOOK ME BACK TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS. SKATEN 92-96. POOT GKA ;)
