This was a simple microwave installation we did in the process of creating a kitchenette in an upstairs room.

Things to Remember:

Safety first! Its a good idea to have someone with you to help with the lifting and spotting.

Measure Measure MEASURE! Templates come with the units. You can stick them directly to the wall or, if you are a pro like Bob, you can measure from the template or microwave directly.

There was the option to use 3 toggle bolts with the dry wall and since there was no stud on the center line or outer edges we thought that would be fine. After drilling the holes we noticed we were short a toggle bolt and had to use an extra screw and find a stud. It still worked out fine.

If there is a vented hood over the range, remember to stop the power at the breaker before removing. Also the power cable going to the previous hood can be used to install an outlet in the cabinets above.

Again, make sure you measure twice before making any cuts or holes.
