3 things man.. a) arc's b) timing and c) spacing. I think your problem is that your concentrating on everything. Animtion is not about moving everything at the same time.. its a collection of simple masses moving simultaneously. I know because i had the same problem with this excersize when i did it years ago. You need to break down the character into simpler masses and move them. look at ArtyDavid83's 4 legged walk.
